Frayed Flower

Here is the flower from the Girl's Floral Tunic Top. I made it from leftover scraps from hemming my curtains and a button.

This was a super cute, quick and easy project. And it was the perfect addition to my little girl's top!

Girl's Floral Tunic Top

It all started with a bag of hand me downs. In the bag, was this skirt...

I really liked the fabric, but as a skirt, I thought it was totally boring. Plus, my skinny little 6 year old has such a tiny little waist, that thing was never gonna fit. So instead of passing it along a second time, I figured I'd recycle it and give the fabric the respect it deserved. 

TADA! A Little Girl Floral Tunic Top! Before it was boring and matronly, now it is fun and fresh! Perfect for a little girl! And the total cost - ZERO DOLLARS! All I did was cut a few inches of length off the bottom of the skirt. The left over fabric I used for the straps and the ruffle. The flower I had made earlier out of fabric scraps leftover from hemming my curtains. 

Pretty boutique chic for curtain scraps and hand me downs, right?

Cute on its own for the rest of summer...

...and over a shirt for some added warmth going into fall.

I have to say, I really like how this came out! I'm glad I figured out how to make it, because now I want one for myself.
